AMERICAN CONSUMER FIRMS IN THE ST PETERSBURG AREA MARKET

1. WITH BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES ON THE RISE IN THE NORTHWEST REGION OF RUSSIA, MANY U.S. FIRMS ARE EXPANDING THEIR ACTIVITIES IN THIS REGION. FOR EXAMPLE, OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS THE NUMBER OF AMERICAN COMPANIES WITH LOCAL OFFICES LISTED WITH FCS ST PETERSBURG HAS INCREASED FROM TWO DOZEN TO OVER 100.

2. U.S. FIRMS' ACTIVITIES IN THIS REGION COVER A WIDE RANGE. AMERICAN COMPANIES ARE ACTIVE IN DIFFERENT SECTORS IN THE LOCAL MARKET. THEY ARE INVOLVED IN MANUFACTURING ACTIVITIES, CONSTRUCTION, SALES AND DISTRIBUTION OF U.S.-MADE GOODS AND SERVICES, HANDLING LEGAL, TAX, AND BUSINESS ADVISORY SERVICES, ADVERTISING, TELECOMMUNICATIONS, COURIER SERVICES, AND TRAINING LOCAL ENTREPRENEURS AND MANAGERS.

3. APPROXIMATELY 20 PER CENT OF THE AMERICAN FIRMS LISTED WITH FCS ST PETERSBURG ARE IN THE CONSUMER SECTOR. THE EXTENT OF THEIR PRESENCE RANGES FROM ONE-PERSON REPRESENTATIVE OFFICES TO FULL SCALE MANUFACTURING AND PRODUCTION FACILITIES. FOLLOWING IS A BRIEF SUMMARY OF THEIR ACTIVITIES. THIS LIST IS NOT EXHAUSTIVE, HOWEVER, SINCE THE BEING ESTABLISHED ALMOST ON A WEEKLY BASIS.
