'95 Advanced Accelerator Physics School Closed

The '95 Advanced Accelerator Physics School, organized jointly by the Chinese Accelerator Society and IHEP, was held in IHEP, Beijing, China, from June 14-17, three years after the first General Accelerator Physics School launched in 1992.

Five overseas famous accelerator physicists were invited to attended the school, they are: Professor Pisin Chen from SLAC, Professor R.C. Fernow from BNL, Professor J.B. Rosenzweig from UCLA, Professor W. Scandale from CERN and Professor K. Yokoya from KEK. The main topics of 16 lectures presented by them are concerning the new concept of accelerator theory including plasma accelerators, near field accelerators, far field accelerators, as well as nonlinear dynamics and beam polarization in storage ring.

Chinese experts presented 11 siminars, mainly on several proposals based high energy accelerators to build in China in future, and on the recent progresses of accelerator physics home and abroad.

Almost 70 students attended this school. Academician Chen Jiaer (Peking University), Director Zheng Zhipeng (IHEP), Deputy Director Wang Shuhong (IHEP), Professor Pisin Chen gave speeches on the opening ceremony and the closing ceremony separately. Professor R.C. Fernow gave a summary remarks on the last day of the school.

An investigation form was distributed to each student after the school, the answers indicate that the students learn quite a lot in the school.
