1.Summary of the achievements in application researches and facility improvements of BSRF;
2.Academic exchanges of experimental projects carried out since 1994;
3.Suggestions on BSRF's improvement at the period of the Ninth Five-Year Plan (1996-2000) and on the major proposals to be strongly supported.
Six plenary speeches were focused on the achievements in condensed matter physics, surface physics, mechanism of catalysis, micro-electronics devices, SR irradiation effects on seeds and SR application in ICF study etc. 48 session speeches were arranged within 3 sessions. The status and improvement project of BSRF, administration of users projects and considerations on improvement were also reported in the meeting to collect suggestions from users.
"The Selections of Research Progress at BSRF(I)" was printed beforehand and was delivered in the meeting for academic exchanges. The collections represent the progresses made in 48 projects and operation status of all the experimental stations.
A common recognition between the users was reached after discussions, that is, in order to obtain more achievements at BSRF, the following key points should be emphasized:_ Supplying sufficient beam time to the selected major projects; Organizing several application-promising projects combined with users; Upgrading the quality of SR source and improving beam performance in order to support new experimental methods and to extend application areas; Continuing to carry on users training, paper awarding, file editing, etc. All of these are certainly depended on a necessary financial support.
Professor Fang Shouxian, Director of BEPC National Laboratory, and Professor Zheng Zhipeng, Director of IHEP, gave addresses in the opening ceremony. Zheng delivered also a closing address. He expressed that the laboratory and the institute would further support BSRF's operation and improvement, and hoped that BSRF staff and users collaborate toghether to attain more ahcievements.
