In his instructive talk, Wen spoke highly of the construction of BEPC and the scientific results obtained in the institute over past years. He stressed to correctly handle the four relations, namely, relations between high-tech research and industrialization, immediate interests and long-term interests, military use and civil use, and big science and small science.
To conclude his speech, Wen urged to go on with research efforts in high energy physics and accelerator. "Supports must be served in two aspects", he added, "one is concerning the necessary investment, the other is concerning qualified scientists and technicians".
