<h1>Wen Jiabao Makes Investigation at IHEP</h1>
    Comrade Wen Jia Bao, alternate member of the Political Bureau of the 
Central Committee of the Communist Party of China(CCCPC), secretary of the 
Secretariat of CCCPC and vice director of the Science and Technology Leading 
Group of China, accompanied by Professor Zhou Guangzhao, President of the 
Chinese Academy of Sciences, came to IHEP on April 12. Wen called a 
discussion 
to listen to opinions on high-tech issues in the country. More than a dozen of 
  the scientists of the institute were present.<p>
    In his instructive talk, Wen spoke highly of 
the construction of BEPC and the 
scientific  results obtained in the institute over past years. He stressed 
to correctly handle the four relations, namely,  relations between high-tech 
research and industrialization, immediate interests and long-term interests, 
military use and civil use, and big science and small science. <p>
    To conclude his speech, Wen urged  to go on with research efforts in 
high energy 
physics and accelerator. "Supports  must be served in two aspects", he added,
"one is concerning the necessary investment, the other is concerning qualified 
scientists and technicians".<p>
