To anyone who reads this. I am suzanne, and I live in canada.
I have searched the internet for places to find Russian friends.
I am writing a story which will include a Russian male come to
the country for the first time. I want to learn about the Russian
country, the culture, and the people so I can make this character
as real as possible, and not offend any Russian person who
may read my story if it is ever published. I would also like any
friends who would keep in contact with me. Where can I find
what I am looking for? I have seen sites that charge to get
pals from anywhere. Contact me at my e-mail address. I will
welcome any advice or offer of friendship. Thank you.

Hello,

My given-name first name was "Doctrove", I've been told this is a
French-Canadian name and it means "Phillip". I have a friend named
"Doctorow" His grandfather emigrated from Nowy Swezne, White Russia (now
Belarus), after WWII, and the customs officials in Halifax Nova Scotia
shortened his name to Doctorow. In Bularus his name come from Doctorowicz,
which means something like "Son of a Doctor?" Does anyone know if
"Doctrove" is a Russian-Jewish name, if it is what does it mean? Has
anyone heard of this name before?

Thank You and Hang-in there, as Russians always have.

Subject: medical resources

I have been searching the web for a Russian friend of mine, without much
luck. She may require medical care in the states for a neurological
disorder and I am trying to find funding for her. Are there organizations
available to help defray costs? She obviously isn't on any insurance
program and is not a "rich" russian.
Are there clinics that may be able to help? She is staying with an American
family in Minnesota right now while she is being tested.
any information that may reside on your listserve, or any contacts I may
try would be very welcome. This is a hardworking, honest young girl with
great potential. I'd hate to see her future in ruins because of disabling
head pain, that may be able to be helped.
thanks for any information.

Dear Friends and Partners!
My name is Vladimir and currently I'm an American studies student at the
Far Eastern State University (FESU) in Vladivostok, Russia. I'm working
over my final project, the subject of which is Greek-letter
organizations (i.e. fraternities, sororities) in American colleges and
unversities. I study the topic from the linguistic point of view and I
have a list of words, related to the topic. What I need is to ask about
30-40 English speaking people to answer some questions on the words. By
the moment I managed to interview just about half of that number and if
anyone of you might help me with that I'd really appreciate this.
Thank you for your time. Best wishes.

I gather is an adaptation of Henry James's "The Aspern Papers." I found
this title when looking at a St. Petersburg, Russia, website. Could someone

For the record, I've been compiling an international list of James-based

already been published, and I'm now revising the article for further
publication.)

Any help you could provide me would be most welcome.

How can I post a search for family researching in Russia.

If you can post this I would greatly appreciate it.

I am searching for information on family members with surnames as follows
Thomas, Hoffart, Ussleman,Ochs. All of these families came from around the
Odessa area and Kutschurgan area. If anyone has information on any of
these surnames I would greatly appreciate it.

My husband is Russian and in the US. I am looking for a good way to find
him a job, do you have a way for him to network with other Russians or
Russian companies in New York City or the boroughs of New York, like
Brooklyn?

Hi! I´m transmitting to You from Knivsta, 45 km north of Stockholm,
Sweden. I have found Your site, and it really looks interesting! Further
on I will continue to study it more. I have a problem, I do not speak or
understand russian. I am the chairman of the swedish union for the von
Knorring family, and we do still have some "lost" relatives within
ex-sovjet. I use to search via the internet and now I have found 2 new
ones!    On one homepage, with the headline

LITERATURNYE ISTOCHNIKI

dlya rasshireniya A i B(G) - znanij

Glavnyj hranitel' istochnikov - Mihail Gladkov

priglashaet vseh zhelayushchih k sotrudnichestvu.

Telefon v Moskve: 444-45-21

(istochniki, pomechennye zvezdochkoj,

imeyutsya u hranitelya v arhive)

I found this item:

Katya fon Knoring "Delo mastera B.G.". "Smena" (SPb) N 135 1992 11

iyunya.

I think the word "Smena" means a publication, could You kindly give me some
help of how to get in contact with that publication in order to come closer
to Katya fon Knoring?

Another search gave me the following headline:

Published papers on THERMOGRAPHY

between

1989 and 1998

and it contained the following item:

Greimer MS, MI Feigin, EP Saburenkova, OK Giaorgieva, Be Knoring, MO Papp,
II

Dantsig, IB Savin: Tuberculosis und pneumonia. Probl tuberk
(7/1991):27-30, 1991

Could this also be a paper magazine?

I mean, is some of the keywords in this headlines familiar to You? I have
been searching on every single word via Yahoo, Excite and Alta Vista
without success. Now I am convinced that it is time to add some russian
intelligence to be able to reach my goal.

I am very greatful if You would kindly give me some help!

Yours sincerely

Harald von Knorring
