Subject: Look for contacts with diabetes and Grant organizations.

Dear sirs,

I'm interested in your organization and I wish I would colaborate in it.

My name is Vincas Dauginis. I'm thirty-seven years old. I've got a secondary
education. I'm married and I have got two sons. I live in a village. I'm not
working now. I'm unemployed and I've got the crippleness because of diabetes
I type. My son, who is forteen years old, has got this disease too. The
other son is healthy, he's thirteen years old. I'm the president of club
"Diabetes" which rallies people who have that handicap in area of Skuodas,
Lithuania.

The area of Skuodas is not far from the Baltic Sea near Latvia. The system
of our state is democracy now. Lithuania was independent till 1939. Then our
country was occupied by Russia and president Antanas Smetona emigrated. In
March 11, 1990 our country became Independent again. We speak Lithuanian
language. It's very old language proceeded from Indo-European and very close
to Latin. Most of our people are Catholics. Last year we elected our new
president Valdas Adamkus. He and his comrades like K. Bobelis, R. Miezelis
and lots of others lived in America for many years.

Our needs are big, but abilities are small. A lot of people our country are
unemployed. I would like to have a job to keep my family well. I would like
to have my personal computer too, but it still is a luxury in our country
in our country and only rich people can have it. So I use the computer of
our municipal when I have ability, but I have to drive 10 kilometres to town
every time when I need a computer. Such problems make difficulties to
communicate with your too.

If such things are interesting for you and I can be useful for your, I'm
ready to collaborate. I'll be waiting for your message.

Sincerely your's - Vincas Dauginis.

Does anyone know where I can get a complete listing of the
"special days" (at least during Soviet times)?

Day of the Paratrooper date?
Day of the Fisherman date?
Day of the Scientist date?
etc.

I have a calendar from the USSR (1985) but it does not specify
these special days.

I collect Soviet badges (Znachki). Some of them commemorate these
special days. As a way of making my collection more complete, I
am searching for a complete listing of these special days.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Subject: need help

Dear Friends and Partners,
I would greatly appreciate if you could post my message in your
newsgroup.
I wonder if anyone has recent experience with the American Embassy in
Moscow. Seems to me they have completely changed their policy regarding
all visas but especially tourist ones starting Jan., 99. Now they have
10-14 days wating period and interviews, and it is not just formality.
For the last 3 years my family has been visiting me several times
without any problems. I am familiar with regular requirements and know
that a visitor has to show any possible proof of "binding" to his/her
home country.
Now they obviously made it much harder. My mom had a solid case with a
good reason to visit me (to help me with a newborn) and bunch of
evidence of her coming back to Russia (son, sick mother, owned apartment
and a job). She had the 1st interview 2 weeks after she submitted an
application. They just asked her formal questions from an application
form and did not express any doubts. And without any explanations except
formal "we need more time to get some information about you" they
invited her for the 2nd interview..in a week. She was not asked to bring
any additional documents or letters and surely was not told what they
are looking for or want to hear. Plus which, my mom said that most of
the people simply got rejected.
I would greatly appreciate if somebody could explain me what is going
on or give me a piece of advice. Tank you, Marina.
