I am attempting to arrange for our nursing faculty, involved now in the
fifth year of an exchange program with the Moscow Medical Academy, to take
advantage of your program. Maybe I should ask your Moscow office to
contact Dr. Galina Perfilyeva, Dean of Nursing at the Moscow Medical
Academy and I will continue to work on our end....two of our nursing
faculty will visit the Academy next month and one will present at a major
conference in St. Petersburg....will be in touch and thanks for the
encouragement.

Dear Friends,
My name is Eddie. Presently I live in New York City. I am interested to
obtain some information related to my family's ancestors. The Grandmother
was graduated from The Smolny Institute between 1910 and 1917, the last name
most likely had some similarity with Danilchuk. I will appreciate any help
or helpful information.
For me personally the starting point of the research would be the list of
the students graduated within above mentioned time frame.
In addition I have a few family pictures.
Truly yours Eddie.

Hello!
Queries sent out into the cyber-world have turned up this information
about the song "Tiomnaia Noch." The lyrics to this song from the war
years can be found at this website:
http://kulichki-win.rambler.ru/rusclub/Songs/War/temnaya-noch.koi8
I understand that an album by an ethnic-Russian German singer by the
name of Ivan Rybroff contains this song, although it was made popular by
Vertinsky. "Tiomnaya Noch" was an original song from the film: "Two
Soldiers," sung by Marc Bernes in Russian language (Vocal with
Orchestra) Stinson Records, Manufactured by MID-TOWN Records, Corp., New
York, N.Y. Record # 3173-B
Does anyone know where I could find a copy of this recording? Please
contact me privately about this.
My thanks to those who have been so much help with this inquiry thus
far. Your help's greatly appreciated! (:-))

Hello.
I am an American who has been seeking a Russian Citizen to share
information with. I believe communication between citizens is the best way
for us to get to know of the other country. I seriously doubt half the
stuff I'm fed by the media(G).
Pleae note that I am NOT interested in a "My Country's better than your
country" contest or debate. Just good talk between two people from far
away.
Briefly: I'm retired from a number of careers including Photography,
Buroughcracy, Engineering and Land surveying. I'm interested in just about
everything.

Subject: New Web resources/Inquiry on humanitarian aid
(XPOST from CIVILSOC)
Dear CIVILSOC subscribers,
1. New Web resources available: CCI's Web site has recently been updated
and now includes over 150 Russian-language documents for agricultural
development, small-business management and preparing for US-based training
courses. Point your browsers to http://www.igc.org/cci/russpubs.html and
select the Cyrillic font encoding (Windows, Mac, KOI8 or DOS) appropriate
for your computer.
2. Humanitarian aid: Has anyone on the list recently shipped humanitarian
aid into Russia? After a one-year hiatus, we are gearing up to resume
shipping vegetable seeds as humanitarian aid this winter. However, we have
so far been unsuccessful in determining the relevant authorities in Russia
who can authorize duty-free entry for such a cargo.
If anyone has recent experience with humanitarian aid shipments, please
contact me via email at
cciusa@igc.org
your help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello to my fellow earthlings in Kyrgyzstan. The world is certainly
growing much smaller through the Internet. I would love to come visit
your country. Is it difficult to come as a solo traveler? Tell me, how
are you dealing with the y2k problem? We are expecting some problems; as
you might conclude we are quite dependent on computers in every aspect of
our everyday lives. It is a little scary.

Hi, great page! Do you think that posting a message on the bulletin board
might be the best way to get in touch with other Americans who are working
on international projects in Russia? I am considering taking a position
that would mean a 36 month dispatch to Moscow, so I am digging around for
information. I would like to get a feel for what conditions are like over
there. Thanks! Phillip

Dear people, It's a great site, only it's a shame that it's mainly about
the US and Russia. Maybe you could include other countries. Immigrant
Russians, like me, tend to get homesick and would like to meet their
fellow countrymen in the city/country where they immigrated to. In my
case Amsterdan, Netherlands. Maybe you have some suggestions for me. I'm
looking for Russian people and/or organisations in Amsterdam/Netherlands.
Any suggestion is wellcomed. Keep up the good work! Greetings from Anna
Kovtoun.
