Hi everyone! I am a 20 (soon to be 21) year old college student at the
University of California Riverside. I am learning to speak Russian and get
practice from my father and my boyfriend (my boyfriend is Russian). As far
as I am concerned, I am Armenian from both sides, but I have a little bit
of Russian in me from both sides as well. I am looking for anyone to
correspond with, preferably in Russian so I can practice. Also feel free
to mail me Russian recipes. I look forward to hearing from someone soon!

Hello,

I was a subscriber to this list in 1994, but have been away from computers for
awhile. I always enjoyed being a part of this and I am sorry that I had to miss
all that has happened with this project. I participated in the IRC conference
that you sponsored from Prague in Nov. 1994. At the time I was studying to get
my teaching credentials in Ellensburg, WA, USA. Now I am a 2nd grade teacher in
Big Bear, CA, USA.

If anyone has 7-8 year olds who would like to be key-pals with kids in CA,
please e-mail me at: Tony_Engebretson@eee.org

Thank you in advance. It is great to be back.

find a good program to use. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Subject: group lodgings and tours

Dear friends!

A colleague and I are attempting to put together a proposal for a
group of college-level honors students to visit Russia in late May-early
June of 1998. While both of us have been in both the old Soviet Union and
the new Russian Republic, both of us have been there either under a
scholarly exchange or as part of a funded group. What we are interested
in really comes down to two things:

(1) Relatively inpensive, secure lodgings for 15-20 young
people of the ages 19-21 and two middle aged college professor types in
St. Petersburg and Moscow; and

(2) The names of reliable individuals or agencies that
would be willing and trustworthy to give this group (the students will be
almost all or nearly all English-speakers only) nice tours of the
historical and cultural sites of these two cities.

Thank you for whatever information you can give to allow us to
begin our planning.

In Reply To:
Sender: MarcoJB@aol.com

I do not know whether you can help me. In May, 1994, I visited Zaoksky
Central Hospital as a visiting surgeon from Columbus, Ohio, USA. We
established this hospital as our sister hospital and sent much in the way
of supplies. Subsequently, seven of their physicians visited our hospital
in Ohio and we developed a friendship. However, our ability to communicate
has been lost. The Seventh-Day Adventist seminary (adjacent to hospital)
had a translator (Dmitry Artamonov) but I have not heard from him in 2
years and cannot contact anyone. Your e-mail address came up when I
attempted to search for Zaoksky (about 50km S of Moscow, approx 1/2 way to
Tula). Perhaps you know someone or perhaps we could communicate. Do you
know any way to communicate with this region? Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Thank you
----

Dear Doctor,

I have read your posting in the Digest and think we can help. We -
Language Solutions Int'l, a translation organization based in the U.S. We
do Russian/English translation work here and, in addition, have vast
Russian based translation resources (experienced in the medical field as
well). I hope we will be able to help you re-establish and effectively
maintain communication with Zaoksky Central Hospital - either by writing
them from here or using our Russian resources in reaching the Zaoksky
people directly. There are plenty of possibilities, and we can explore
them together should you decide to use our help.

Will be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
