Subject: Asking for help
Dear Friends,
My name is Allen Parker and I am a member of the Society for Creative
Anachronism. As such I am doing research on the tenth century Russian
foot soldier and his mounted counter part. I am having trouble finding
the type of information that I need in order to re-create the cloths,
weapons, and armor worn by a person of this time period. What I realy
need is a picture or pictures of the coat of plates, construction
techneques for the coat, and close ups of the plates themselves.
I am also looking for the plans (or something simular) for a Russin
conical helm. This is a "onion toped helmit" worn in the tenth century.
I would love to hear from you or anyone you can get me in touch with to
speed this search so that I might begin constrution of these items.
Thank-you in advance for any help you can provide!
Allen Parker

Now, can you help me? I taught in Tyumen for 2 years and want to bring a
student over to attend University of Washington. My family can pay his
arifare and his living costs while here, but we need to find sponsors for
tuition and books. We've tried an exchange, but frankly no one from US wants
to study in Tyumen. Do you have any contacts? He is from a very poor
family, his city administration is paying for his study there now, but will
not pay for study abroad. I am thinking of the vast difference I found
Russian nationals are paid in salary if they have a Western degree. He has
no intention of immigrating, but wants to finish his final year of
undergraduate work and then a Masters degree in Business here. He wants to
return and help his siblings to go on to college, as the city will only pay
for one per family. He is a good student (Russian avg. 4.7, our 3.9) and
talented with computers, languages, and radio broadcasting. Do you know of
anyone whom might help him? Please e-mail me at RLY9x9@aol.com Thanks,

I am an undergraduate at the University of California in San Diego working
towards a bilingual teaching credential for high school level mathematics.
In the process of receiving a bilingual credential it is required that I
learn about the bilingual education programs around the world. I am doing
a report on bilingual education in Russia. First, it is difficult to find
information focusing specifically on Russia. Rather, the information
available is out of date and thus includes the entire former Soviet Union.
The next problem I have encountered is a lack of information that deals
specifaically with bilingual education. Instead, it tends to talk about
teaching English or whatnot. What I really would like to see in regards to
an eduation/language informational source is how russia deals with students
of different language backgrounds in the classroom. Meaning that their
first language is not the dominant language, presenting an educational
obstacle. If are able to share any information regarding this topic I
would by most appreciative. Thank you.
