Hi everyone. I am looking for very distant kin, my grandfather christened
Alexander Nikolaevich Malahaensh, born February 30,1884 was forced to the
United States during the revolution of 1917. He died when I was in my
second year of life. Sadly I could never know him. I am looking for any
ancestors I could correspond with or anyone who could lead me to an often
dreamed about family tree. I am a commercial fisherman on the Bering sea,
fishing for pollock and king crab. This web site is really cool. I love
the people of the world that try to bring us together as people of the
world rather than people of different countries and races. May God smile
on everyone and happy life to you all.

I speak a little Russian but can make little progress as I do not know

Subject: Adoption from Maykop, Russia

To anyone who could be of help:

My husband and I are adopting two children from orphanages in Maykop in
the Caucausus area of Russia. We hope to receive the invitation to travel
sometime soon after the holidays. We are very interested in finding out
about Maykop and the surrounding area, especially about the weather around
this time of year. Because of a recent change in the adoption laws in
Russia, we'll be there for about 2-1/2 weeks, with nothing to do for the
first ten days. That's the amount of time before the court's decision
(hopefully, that we will be allowed to adopt our children) goes into
effect. I understand that it is a small town with no public
transportation, but I would like to know if there is anything to do there
by way of becoming familiar with the Russian culture, etc.

We are very excited about the chance to visit a country which we grew up
being taught to fear and hate. We now have the opportunity to make contact
with those who grew up being taught to hate and fear our country as well.
We would like to make the most of it, for our own enrichment, and that of
our future children, and to halp make sure that never happens again, at
least on a person-to-person level.

If anyone has any information on Maykop specifically, or any suggestions
for us in general, please e-mail me at jprand@mer.cioe.com.

Thank you very much, Pam Randolph

Subject: Search for the unknown

Hello,

I've not time to install the cyrillic fonts at the moment (sounds tedious),
but I'm glad I've found this page. Although I may be a novice at
navigating the tenuous web, I did finish a computer science degree in 1976
(along with physics etc.), and laboured for years within the labyrinth
called gainful digital employment. Now to the point I've in mind; I have a
mystery that I'm trying to unfold. I am russian/polish, but born in
Australia, and my sister and I are trying to track down a stunning
documentary called "the unknown war". It seemed to be a collection of
russian film archives, put together as a series, released as a book, and
narrated by THE Burt Lancaster. I've had the best search for it, via top
notch media personnel, but to no avail. It is a worthwhile and
invigourating series, but all traces of it have been lost. It makes one
wonder.

Regards

A.V.E.
