Subject: my report
Hello everyone,
I'd just like to let someone out there know that i received their email
today (May 30, 1996) about a request to read my History report after I have
completed typing it. AOL shut off, and i couldn't get back to my desktop, so
I shut off my computer and restarted it. When it got back to normal, all the
mail that I had saved offline for today was gone. I didn't get your email
address, so if you know who you are, could you please send your request
again. Thank you.

Subject: Potemkin Villages -- Soviet copies of US domestic small towns
Gentlemen,
Is there a specialist somewhere (government or otherwise) who might
be able to provide any information, leads, contacts, or suggestions
for learning about the location, history, and current status of the
Potemkin village sites (model settlements based on small USA towns
used for training individual intelligence agents and small families
of intelligence agents) operational in the Soviet Union during the
period from approximately 1950 to 1970?
I am interested in learning more about the Potemkin village program,
discovering whether some records of personnel passing through these
sites might be available, and perhaps visiting these sites if it is
permissable to do so now that the CIS appears to be more open about
disclosing information about historical intelligence activities.
I hold a United States passport. I am currently resident in London
under two year employment contract to work as a research scientist.
My Ph.D. was obtained from USC Neurobiology Program in 1995.
I would really appreciate any advice or leads to any potentially
knowledgable people you might be able to provide.
Thanks,
Alexander J. Annala, Ph.D.
