Subject: Vladivostok school 14 seeks teacher

School number 14 in Vladivostok is interested in having a native speaker
English teacher for their school, preferably for classes 5-9, or for
classes 10-11. Last year they had an American from Alaska, and were
very encouraged by the improvements in their students' language skills.
They can provide room and board (the teacher would live with the family
of another teacher, own room provided). Preferably to begin September '96
through December, or for a full school year, till June '97.

The school does not have email, but if anyone is interested in
visiting this school, I will be glad to be an intermediary for the
preliminary stages. Please respond to (Allegra@actr.marine.su)

Vladivostok is a port city on the Pacific, not far from China,
Korea, Japan. Population approx 800,000. It was a closed city until
1992, but has changed by leaps and bounds since then. Nowadays there
are several Consulates, including an American Consulate, many foreign
businesses and organizations, and a relatively large ex-pat population.

JOIN OUR RESEARCH TEAM FOR THE RUSSIAN BY WATERWAY TRAVEL GUIDE BOOK

The team's leader will be Tatyana Pozar-Burgar of Melbourne, Australia, who

Joining the research group is an ideal way for non-Russian speakers to see
the country for local prices. If you would like to join, it costs just $80
for visa invitation, coordination and a copy of the book when it comes out.
Of course you pay the costs of getting to Russia and all your local costs,
just like us. Our last research trips cost each person about $20 a day. It
would be expected that you do some research on the places that you will be
visiting.

If you want more information, email me and I will send you more details.

Subject: A.PARENT.RUSS

The A.PARENT.RUSS is a free interent mailing list for parents who are either
interested in adopting or have adopted children from Russia or from one of the
republics that used to be part of the former Soviet Union. Others who are
sympathetic to the problems and issues that these parents are facing are also
welcome.

Topics that are discussed include, but are not limited to: finding
an agency, identifying a child, Russian cultural differences,
adapting a Russian child to the American culture, current news
about the Russian adoption laws and adoption process, etc., etc.

Agencies working with Russian or East European children are encouraged
to participate. They may post lists of children or pointers to their
web sites, but should not post the same message/advertisement repetitively.

Note that the A.PARENT.RUSS list has a WWW page. It contains all of the
instructions listed in this note as well as a number of interesting
items from past discussions on the list. The WWW page is located at:

http://www.serve.com/fredt/adopt.html

HOW TO SUBSCRIBE ===============
To subscribe to the list, compose an email message by addressing it to:

listproc@list.serve.com

Don't bother with filling in the subject; any subject lines are ignored
by the software.

The message you send should contain the following line (and nothing else):

subscribe a.parent.russ YOUR NAME

Where you should substitute your real name for "YOUR NAME" in the
above line.

Go ahead and send it. You will receive a response in the mail shortly
thereafter (sometimes minutes, sometimes hours).

As a last note, the most common mistake people make when subscribing
it to misspell the list address. They write listproc@list.serv.com
instead of listproc@list.serve.com -- That is, they leave off the
"e" from the word "serve". They are kind of conditioned to do this
because many mailing lists are called "listserv"s and this is where
the confusion comes in.
