Subject: FPSPACE Workshop

Our Friends and Partners in Space (FPSPACE) workshop kicks off next week
in Moscow (April 8-12) and promises to be an interesting forum for
discussion on US and Russian space programs. While in Moscow we'll be
touring several museums and institutes and have scheduled working sessions
on topics including Mir/International Space Station and Lunar/Mars
programs. We have 14 non-Russian participants and will have at least that
many Russians. Our two university partners, Bauman Moscow State Technical
University and Moscow Aviation Institute have set up a great program for
us and our opening day meetings will be hosted by the Russian Space
Agency.

We have a FPSPACE e-mail list which has been growing rapidly over the past
several months. To subscribe, send a "subscribe fpspace Your Name" message
to listproc@solar.rtd.utk.edu. This is mostly discussion on Russian space
programs, but I also post administrative notes on FPSPACE to the list. If
you have any questions about the project, please write me at
jlgreen@clark.net. BTW, I will be in Moscow from April 4-May 31.

Subject: acquiring visas

Does anyone know the latest on acquiring visas to travel through Russia
and central asian countries. Ive heard it can be rather expensive to get
a visa the the borders, especially in kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgzistan,
and the central asian borders with russia. Also , information about
multiple entry visas, tourist visas and business visas would be helpful
as would the embassys' or consulates' addresses. Much Thanks

Subject: Management position may be opening for qualified woman

An organisation I know is looking for a female manager for a project they
might be setting up in Russia and asked me if I knew someone. Well, I
don't, but one of you might be interested.

This organisation is one of the 5 remaining contenders for a EU-sponsored
project planned for Sep 95-Sep 96. The project which they have applied to
take on is one of encouragement, counseling, training of Russian women who
have just or are planning to start their own business. The organisation
has an extensive experience with undertaking such projects of guiding and
helping aspiring business women of various nationalities, but has few
experience of doing so in Russia.

So what they are looking for is a long-timer, preferably a woman, who has
extensive managerial experience, speaks Russian fluently, has perhaps
worked there before, and is prepared to do so for nine months in the period
mentioned above, and who is attracted to the idea behind this project.

The organisation is based in the Netherlands, so applicants should
preferably reside in NW-Europe.

At this moment this is all the information I can give: but if you are
interested in such a job, I can pass through the information you give about
yourself, and, when interested, they will contact you.

NOTE:(!!):

Please don't send your info to the adress probably stated in the from:
box (J.W.vanBeek@stud.let.ruu.nl) but to:
M.O.vanderBij@stud.let.ruu.nl

Thank you,
Joost van Beek

Subject: Boston homestay? (fwd)

Greetings,

I am writing on behalf of a friend who will be travelling with her son and
mother to the US in the end of April for a period of one month. They will
travel to Boston, Massacucetts in order for her son to undergo a series of
operations on his eyes to restore his vision. Her son is one-year old and
suffers from a very bad eye problem which cannot adequately be treated here
in Russia. Arrangements have already been made at Schepens Associates in
Boston to perform the necessary series of operations in order to fix this
condition. The family has been lucky enough to find a sponsor here in
Russia who is willing to cover the cost of the procedure.

While they have secured a sponsor to pay for the medical and travel costs,
they must cover their own living expenses while in the US. I am looking for
anyone who can help locate either an affordable place to stay in Boston, or
a possible homestay for the three of them, for a period of one month
starting April 27, 1996.

Any suggestions can be forwarded to me here via e-mail:
cfhalley@glas.apc.org

Thank you in advance for any assistance,

Colleen F. Halley
