Digest for 94-11-30
Dear Friends,
Greetings from Moscow! We are participating in two Internet conferences
here this week. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we are helping introduce Russian
government officials to the Internet in the "Government Solutions"
conference sponsored by Digital Equipment Corporation, Belcom, and several
other sponsors. On Thursday and Friday, we will be working in the
"International Networking Seminar" for higher education officials
throughout Russia and the CIS. You can learn more about these conferences
by checking out URL:
http://netcom.demos.su/conference/conference.html
Tomorrow afternoon, Natasha will be introducing Leonid Yarmolnik, the
"David Letterman" of Russia who will be providing "surprise entertainment"
provided by Belcom for the conference participants. We are tentatively
planning an IRC session in which Yarmolnic can talk with "Friends and
Partners" on an IRC session used for the Prague conference a few weeks ago.
Anyone who can join with us during this time is *most* invited to do so.
We anticipate the session will begin between 5:15 pm and 6:00ish Moscow
time (9:15 am and 10:00 EST). Just telnet to solar.rtd.utk.edu and enter
"irc" (in all lowercase and without the quotes). If possible we will send
more instructions to anyone who can write to us tomorrow (please send mail
to gcole@april.ibpm.serpukhov.su).
Our thanks to Belcom and especially to Kenny Schaffer for inviting our
participation in these conferences. It has been a tremendous opportunity
to tell the story about 'friends and partners' and the capabilities of the
Internet.

Subject: Privatization results in Former Soviet Union
According to the last issue of A&G-News press review, Kommersant-Daily
published on November 5 the first official results of the voucher
privatization in Russia from the State Property Committee. I'd like to
obtain more information about this. Does anyone have this paper or
know how to get direct informations or statistics from the State
Property Committee. Furthermore, is it possible (and how) to get such
informations for other countries of the CIS ?
Thanks in advance

My daughter Nadya Nedelsky, a second-year graduate student in comparative
government at the University of Toronto (Canada) has asked for my help in
locating an intensive summer program (summer of 95) in the Czech language,

If you know of any place that you could recommend, or could give her any
advice about how to find out about available programs, please let her
know directly. Her e-mail address is nnedelsk@epas.utoronto.ca; she would
like to hear as soon as possible.
Thank you,

Subject: Cyberlink
Dear Ladies & Gentlemen:
Few months ago we posted the information regarding .85 cents per minute calls
to Russia, the response we received was tremendous. Here is an update on
coverage area expansion.
As of December 1st, Cyberlink Telecommunications Company, is expanding 1+
dial service throughout the United States. No more dialing of 800 numbers in
order to take an advantage of their low international rates, just dial as you
do now (1+country code+.......). This will allow you to take advantage of
low rates not only on international calls but on interstate and intrastate
calls as well.
For those who do not feel comfortable leaving their current long distance
carrier, you can still take an advantage of Cyberlink services by signing up
for the International + service.
Remember, you are the boss, if you don't like it, you don't have to use it.
Your old long distance carrier will be glad to take you back. You have
nothing to lose -- just to gain.
For more information or an application please contact us . We look forward
to hear from you.
Sincerely,
KS Enterprises International
