miss out on all the fun! Maybe you've heard of FTP, Gopher, Archie,

they were out of your reach because your online service does not provide
those tools. Not so! And even if you do have full Internet access,
using e-mail servers can save you time and money.

This special report will show you how to retrieve files from FTP sites,
explore the Internet via Gopher, search for information with Archie,
Veronica, or WAIS, tap into the World-Wide Web, and even access Usenet
newsgroups using E-MAIL AS YOUR ONLY TOOL."

In two weeks I will be travelling to Western Siberia -- Novosibirsk, Tyumen,
Kemerovo. Generally speaking, I will be researching institution change and
creation, regional autonomy, labor and environmental issues in resource
extraction communities. If anyone has information on internal travel, access to
information, crime, and/or life in general in that part of Russia, I would
certainly like to hear from you. Thanks very much!

Subject: new features in PSSRI

I'm continuing with my work breaking down the plaintext of "Post-Soviet
Study Resources on the Internet" (PSSRI) into finer hypertext modules.
This should make finding what you are looking for a bit easier in the
near future, so keep an eye on it from the "More Information
Resources" heading or use the URL

http://solar.rtd.utk.edu/~ikallen/pssri.html

The webservers, gophers and ftp sites have been set up for what I think
is easier access and navigation; your feedback is certainly welcome.
The climax to this process will be enabling a WAIS search that would
allow you to enter a search string, for example, "ukraine" and all of the
ftp sites, gophers and other references to resources converning Ukraine
would be returned.

So stay tuned!

Subject: Looking for representative

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen:

We are an Import and Export Management Company and we specialize in products
such as canned fruit, canned vegetables, fruit juice, and juice concentrates.
For the last five years we tried to find a serious business partners who would
represent our company's interests in CIS and Baltics. For some reason it seems
that it is very hard to find businesses who are willing to work in order to
establish a long term relationship instead of trying to hit a home run. There
must be some companies that have a knowledge of trade and would be interested in
future growth of there companies.

If anyone can give us some recomendations or forward our company's information
to serious people, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Subject: Calls to CIS .85c/minute

Anyone who is making calls from US to CIS or any other country, should consider
Cyberlink -- a Full Service Telecomunications Company.

I was using AT&T for a long time, but two months ago I descovered Cyberlink, and
decided to give it a try by switching one line and comparing both bills at the
end of the month. I am very happy with the savings and the service that they
provide. The beauty is in there pricing structure, .85c per minute and it is
billed in 6 second intervals. If you send a fax, for instance, it takes 1
minute and 10 seconds for transmission, with AT&T you will be billed for 2
minutes (the best rate scenarion - $2.34) and with cyberlink - 1 minute and 12
seconds ($1.02), and also this is a flat rate, which meens that is good 24 hours
a day without minimums and any kind of restrictions. It ads up to a big money.
This is not a promotional but regular rate. Also you don't have to switch you
long distance service, but instead just get a calling card without any risk. If
you don't like it, don't use it.
