Subject: Raising money to finance business in Russia
I am writing a paper (to be published early next year) which outlines
alternatives to financing business projects in Russia and more specifically
looks at how to legally and financially structure potential financing. I
discuss briefly U.S. government and multilateral programs, and then look
more closely at potential funding sources within Western and Russian
capital markets.
I would be interested to hear from anyone (especially a lawyer based in
Russia) who has had personal experience raising money in Russia. I am most
interested in any creative ways to structure transactions which people have
come up with. I would also be interested in experiences people have had
raising money within Russian markets.
Thank you,
Daniel Bain (dbain@cerf.net)

Purpose GAIA UNLIMITED, Inc.
GAIA UNLIMITED, Inc. provides comprehensive solutions for all
your risk assessment and management needs. We specialize in
helping manufacturers, municipalities, and state and federal
agencies to
* assess environmental and occupational risks, and
* provide innovative solutions to minimize those risks.
We place special emphasis on pollution prevention as one of
the most effective ways of reducing risks.
Expertise of GAIA UNLIMITED team
Our inter- and multi-disciplinary team consists of
experienced professionals in the areas of risk assessment and risk
management. These include chemical, civil, mechanical, and
environmental engineers; toxicologists; biochemists;
biotechnologists; soil scientists and microbiologists; industrial
hygienists; physicians board-certified in occupational medicine and
neuropsychiatry; attorneys; and business managers.
Our professionals have extensive experience in industry,
government (EPA, ATSDR, OSHA, NIOSH, DOT, FDA), and academia. We
are familiar with all the legal and technical requirements of
designing and operating industrial processes, as well as running
municipal systems and designing environmental sound management
plans. We have participated in and continue to contribute to
government-sponsored on new possibilities for risk and waste
reduction in manufacturing. Thus, our team is on the frontier of
technological advances in the areas of risk and pollution
reduction. Our professionals are also involved in community
efforts to reduce risks from chemicals through participation in the
Community Right-to-Know (SARA, Title III) activities, and efforts
to develop the transportation plan for the 21st century in
Cincinnati.
Why Should You Hire Us?
Why should a company or municipality hire us when its own
engineers and operators could reduce risks and pollution?
As with all problems involving people, objectivity can best
be achieved by disinterested professionals. In-house personnel may
be the most familiar with the everyday operations and design of a
manufacturing operation or a municipal system, but they cannot
objectively evaluate and solve problems because of internal
interest, turf battles, and possible career repercussions.
Moreover, everyday contact with the operation generates acceptance
and lowers awareness of risk.
In addition to professional objectivity, GAIA UNLIMITED, Inc.
provides a range of disciplines and experience greater than that
available to most clients. Our recommendations are also oriented
towards increased earnings through improved system design.
Services We Provide
* Environmental impact studies for new manufacturing plants or
for municipal environmental management
* Risk assessment studies or safety audits of existing plants
and hazardous waste sites
* Design of comprehensive environmental programs and strategies
for municipalities and state and federal governments to
decrease overall risk from the adverse effects of pollutants
and to provide healthy environments
* Risk assessments of toxic releases (routine and accidental)
* Risk assessment of consumer products and their life cycles
(common products and pharmaceuticals)
* Expert testimony involving risk assessment and management
* In-depth evaluation of plant safety and suggestions for risk
reduction
* Education and training in all aspects of risk analysis and
right-to-know laws
* Assistance in establishing computerized systems for data
handling
* Economic analysis of suggested options for risk management
* Assistance to developing and Eastern European countries with
evaluating, prioritizing and solving their environmental
problems
* Networking worldwide with environmental experts and
organizations

Subject: Russia Network
Hello, my name is Richard Twigg and I work for the
International Republican Institute (IRI) in Washington, DC.
I saw your address on the Internet and was wondering if you
might be able to help me. IRI is a non-profit organization
that supports the development of Democratic Institutions
We currently have field offices in Moscow and
St. Petersburg as well as other countries around the world.
I manage the computer systems for IRI and I wanted to know
if you could help me set up a network in Russia or point me
to someone who could.
What I am trying to do is set up some kind of BBS in 6
different cities in Russia so that our trainers can
communicate effectively. These cities are: Moscow, St.
Petersburg, Rostov-na-Donu, Samara, Perm, and Novosibirsk.
I have been to Moscow once so I have some experience with
the phone lines there and E-Mail. Currently we use MCI Mail
for our E-Mail in Moscow & St. Petersburg. What I would
like to know is can I set up something in these other
cities? Do they have local access to an Internet node? If
so can I hook on with them? I am a novice when it comes to
the Internet. I believe setting up a discussion group with
limited access would be the way to go but I have no idea how
to go about this.
Do you have any suggestions or can you point me in the right
direction? Any help would be appreciated and please feel
free to forward this message.
Thank You very much,
Richard Twigg

Subject: friends and partners
Hello natasha,
scanning through russian www servers i found your friends and partner
project.it is a great idea, and i hope it will be successful. as it is
dedicated to us-su matters i do not know whether you are interested in
anything about austria.if so,let me know. in any case, please find a cream
cheese (curd) dumpling recipe, simple and tasty, so at least i add some
value to this message:
take 700g cream cheese (not too fat,e.g.10%), 200g white bread (only the
soft inner part of it), 2 egg yolks, 3 whole eggs, 50g butter, 3 spoonful
of sugar, the peel of a lemon ( about the size of a thumbnail, very fine
cut, just for the flavour) and a pinch of salt.
cut the bread into very fine pieces, mix it with the egg yolk, eggs, butter,
sugar, salt and lemon peel until you have a very fine pastry. now add the
cream cheese and mix it well again. as soon as you got a homogeneous
pastry put it into the refrigerator for at least two hours. it does not
matter if you leave it longer, even over night.
take it out of the refrigerator and make small balls, about 4cm diameter
and put the dumplings into light boiling water. after about 12 minutes you
can take them out. roll them in small, butter roasted bread crumbs
(optional) and serve them with stewed fruits.
best regards,
karl brunner,vienna
