Daily Digest for 94-07-29

Dear Friends,

We welcome Natasha on the occasion of her first visit to America! As this
is written, she is in flight from Moscow to New York and should arrive
here today a little after 3:00 pm EST. We wish to thank the many people on
this list who have offered suggestions for things to see and do -- and who
have so generously offered to spend time with us as we travel during the
next 3 1/2 weeks. We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of folks on
this list and are so looking forward to meeting many with whom we have only
electronically communicated previously.

We will keep the digest coming during the next few weeks -- and, indeed,
hope to have much news to share of new developments (and a rather complete
reorganization of the friends and partners server) once we return to
Knoxville in about a week.

On behalf of the over 900 folks on this list (we reached this 'milestone'
yesterday), we'd like to again say "Welcome!" to our very special guest.
Natasha can be reached during the next few weeks as natasha@solar.rtd.utk.edu.

Subject: Alternative Medicine

I am trying to find out information about alternative medicine in
Russia. I am looking for a place, a name, a group of people
really anything that could give me some leads into other
forms of medicine that might be occuring in Russia. Any
help that you can give me would be wonderful.

Subject: Russification - testing?

Having read all the excellent guides to russification of Mosaic on
F&P, I've grabbed and installed the KOI8 fonts from elvis.msk.su, and
a number of boffins in our Computer Centre are eager to see how they
work. As yet, however, I've not been able to find anything on the web
that is actually written in Russian which would provide a valid test of
the installation.

I've thought about writing a Russian html file (by guesswork) but the
chances of this being anything like a proof of the system are remote
to say the least. Can anyone give me a pointer to some Russian text
on the web? Thanks.
