Subject: Internship for Belarussan Lawyer

Hi,

I'm writing this on behalf of a colleague of mine, Sasha Strakh, with
whom I worked in Minsk, Belarus. He is a young Belarussan lawyer who is
currently getting an L.L.M. at the University of Houston in Texas. He
would like to find a paid internship at a law firm or company for three
to six months after the end of this studies, starting in May or June.

I can recommend Sasha highly. He is bright, very hardworking and speaks
good English. He was my assistant for a few months when I worked in
Minsk as a representative of the CEELI program.

If anyone can help, please contact me or contact Sasha directly at (713)
747-1410.

Thanks,

Cheryl Fackler Hug (415/688-9235, email Cheryl.Facklerhug@corp.sun.com)

Subject: Visit to St Petersburg 20 May-10 June

I will be visiting St Petersburg, Russia from about 20 May to 10 June, to
attend the Gertzen Reading at the A. I. Gertzen Russian State Pedagogical
University. I will be helping to present a new Russian language
instruction textbook with the book's author, at this international
conference of Teachers of Russian.

I would be very interested in meeting anyone in St Petersburg, while I am
there. I do book design, fine art photography and museum studies
(conservation/preservation techniques research (beginning) and museum
administration). I am a student at The Evergreen State College in my
third year.

I will be visiting some places in and around St Petersburg, especially
Pavlovsk Palace-Museum.

Thank you
Dave Wells

Subject: Nisus

All,

One more (short!) note about Russian/English word processing, fonts, etc.

On Friday I received the latest "Tiger Software" catalog, which advertises a
word processor called "Nisus". For $200 you can get a version which has
built-in support for about a dozen languages, plus one free "add-in" which
could be Russian. Additional add-ins are $45 each. The claim is that this
includes foreign language dictionaries, fonts, etc. The Russian version
presumably uses the same fonts and WorldScript stuff available separately from
Apple, as described earlier.

Has anyone used Nisus? I've heard of it before, but never used it.

Doug

Subject: Help

Hello all,

I am looking for a place or places on the Internet where I can get any
information about Ukraine. Could anybody help me to locate some BBSs, ftp
sites, mailing lists, etc. where this information would be available?

                                        Thank you.

                                        Vladimir Yavelsky (vlad@io.org)

NOTE: The ftp site infomeister.osc.edu is a very good source for
information about Ukraine. Look in directory:
          /pub/central_eastern_europe/ukrainian
A hypertext link to this site is available on the friends and
partners server from the "More Information Resources" page.
