Natasha and Greg, Thank you very much for setting up this wonderful
network. It already put me in contact with many people and opened up a
abundance of resources.
I was wondering if anyone has any information regarding propaganda
posters in the former Soviet Union. I am currently doing a theis project
on this topic and would appreciate any further information. I have checked
all of the common resources available and was wondering if anybody had any
further leads.
Thany you in advance for your information.

Dear Friends,
I live in South Florida and am employeed as a State Gov. employee. I utilize
a Geographic Information System (GIS) to assist engineers, planners, and
environmentalists with hydrologic supply and demand analysis. I would like
to correspond with someone from Russia about GIS or any political, economical,
socialogical, cultural or current topic. Please make messages brief - at first.
I am very interested in alternative views, ideas and alternative music.

Subject: Connectivity with Ukraine

One of my reasons for joining the FRIENDS list was to solve a communications
problem. I have been searching for a way to communicate with my exchange
student's father through the Internet. Yuri Chernyakova teaches at
Dnepropetrovsk State University and supposedly has some type of e-mail access.
I have tried other Internet lists for help but am still unsuccessful. Do you
know if DSU is connected and is it possible to contact Yuri Chernyakova? His
e-mail address would be a treasure for Milena (she just received a letter
mailed in October 1993). I would appreciate any insight you could provide.

Thanks.

 Hi,
I'd be interested in hearing more about your project. I am the designer
of BioMagResBank, which is a relational database of NMR data about proteins.
It has pointers to related proteins in Brookhaven and PIR databases. If
your project involves macromolecular database you should know about the
CODATA Task Group on Macromolecular Databases. It included representatives
from many databases: EMBL, JPID, a 2-D gel database, carbohydrate database...
We get together once a year to discuss mutual problems.

Hello friends -
I'm an ecologist and engineer. I've been reading the mail
and am impatient to stop reading and start doing. I work
with an organization with an incredible set of skills in
biology, ecology, chemical and radio remediation and power
systems. I'd like to create or join a group devoted to
research and problem solution on issues that are parallel
on our two sides of the globe. My personal interests are
in the ecology of the southern areas of what was once the
USSR - and like a lot of people I wouldn't mind if it was
around Baikal.
Are there extand, multidisciplinary groups - or are there
those that would like to form such a group, identify issues
and seek funding in the internation or U.S. national arena?
Anyone please feel free to contact me directly by email or
snail. I am:
