Uzbekistan "Human Devel. Report 1999" and "Central Asia 2010"

The Center for Economic Research (CER), which is leading research
institution in Uzbekistan on the subjects of social-economic development in
Central Asia, announces a distribution of the reports on the Central Asian
studies.

HUMAN DEVELOPMENT REPORT (UZBEKISTAN 1999)

The current issue includes following chapters:
1. Human Development in Uzbekistan: challenge of transition. The place of
    Uzbekistan in the world today and its challenges are broadly explained in
    the first chapter.
2. Protecting health and education. This chapter reports on the situation
    with system of financing of social services in transition period as long
    as various issues on health care, and education reforms.
3. This part of the report is devoted to Uzbekistan's approach to seeking
    equity during transition. And situation with poverty.
4. Ensuring effective economic growth and human development. Which discusses
    following topics: Effective economic growth, liberalization of the economic

    the small and medium-sized enterprises, development of the financial sector.

Edited and sponsored by United Nations in Uzbekistan, annually with the
basic purpose of displacement of accents of economic development in the
party of steady development of human development. The report on human
development in Uzbekistan supports the concept of the global reports of the
UN. Development of human potential and economic growth are closely bound
with each other, therefore main task of the Reports of Uzbekistan is the
concentration of attention of a public and government on problems connected
to human development. The report analyses the concept, measurement, and/or
practice of human development at national level.
