I delivered a talk on the importance of water resources in Central Asia at
the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in Tuft University, Boston, MA. The
talk was focused on the current practice of water use and distribution from
the Amu Darya and Syr Darya and and its potential as a source of conflict
between the countries of Central Asia . I emphasized the point that
Afghanistan should be involved in any water right negotiation to avoid
future water right conflicts. The need for finalizing water rights treaties
under international laws was also emphasized.
