Subject: Purpose of this list

It has been great to have all the introductions, but apparently harder
to start a discussion. I think this is perhaps because a lot of us are
unsure about the nature, aims and available resources and influence of
the development project. Would the list owners be able to address this
question, to enable us to understand what matters are suitable for
discussion on this list? If not, it runs the danger of either drying
up, or of becoming simply another discussion list which will be of
little use to the development programme and the people of the valley.
