Dear colleagues,
I am new to this area of the world, so am excited about this forum for
information exchange. I arrived in Tashkent on March 1 as the new Regional
Director of the Eurasia Foundation (responsible for Uzbekistan,
Turkmenistan and Tajikistan). We recently opened an office in Almaty, and
the new Director there is covering Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. I will urge
him to join the list as well.
Our Foundation supports private sector development, civil society
development and local government reform throughout the countries of the
former Soviet Union. I hope to gain from this list a more thorough
understanding of the issues that are specific to the Ferghana Valley and
how we can most effectively target our resources.
