Dear List Members,

My name is Erik Blender and I am the Program Hub Director for the
Freedom Support Act Future Leaders Exchange (FSA FLEX) administered by
ACIE: ACTR/ACCELS in Uzbekistan.

Our program currently selects and sends 50 of the most talented high
school students of English from Uzbekistan to study in the United States
and live in host families for a period of one year. This program is
funded by the United States Information Agency.

One of the most exciting things I get to do in Uzbekistan is work with
students of our program after they have returned from the US. FSA FLEX
alumni in Uzbekistan have become very active in the past 9 months.

One of our best developing projects is an FSA FLEX student run youth in
the city of FERGANA. The alumni students there, with the coordination
and support of ACCELS, Uzbekistan, have began doing charity drives,
clothing drives, English language festivals, and have many other events
planned. Their events are designed to get high school and college
students in Ferghana involved in combined community service and social
activities that will give those young people an outlet for their ideas
and creative energy.

I look forward to the opportunity of corresponding with many of you and
perhaps listening to your ideas for the further development of our youth
center in Fergana.

Sincerely,

Erik Blender
