Dear List Members,
I am Shelley Taylor and currently work for two university-related
organizations in the US midwest: MidAmerica International Agricultural
Consortium and the International Agricultural Programs office of Iowa State
University. In both positions I try to expand international opportunities
for faculty, staff, students and clients of the universities. I began to
become interested in the Ferghana Valley when I traveled there as a
graduate student in anthropology in 1996. I spent one month in Tashkent and
one month traveling in the Ferghana Valley, interviewing people on women's
involvement in the informal sector of the economy.
Although the focus of my current work is in other areas of the world, I
continue contact with many friends from the area (some now studying here)
and hope to increase institutional exchanges between our countries. I am
interested in many of the topics already mentioned and am looking forward
to discussions and news from the Valley. I am happy to be in such great
company with the diversity and expertise shown in the previous introductions.

Shelley
