   The Vishnevskaya-Rostropovich Foundation (VRF), a non-profit
organization that is tax-exempt under 501 (c)(3) of the United States
Internal Revenue Code, is headquartered in Washington, D. C. Its address
is 1776 K St., N.W., Suite 800, Washington, D. C. 20006. The email
address is rostro@erols.com. The mission of the VRF is to improve health
care for children in Russia. At present the focus of the VRF is the
immunization of children and adolescents. In the Nizhny Novgorod oblast
the VRF has begun a three-year vaccination program against hepatitis B,
measles, mumps and rubella. Over 700,000 children will be vaccinated
over the course of the program. In the late spring of 2001 the VRF will
initiate a vaccination program in western Siberia in the Novosibirsk
oblast, including the city of Novosibirsk, the largest city in Siberia.
The children's vaccination program of the VRF is the largest public
health initiative for children in Russia since the collapse of the
Soviet Union.
