CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
The 30th Annual Conference
November 29-December 1, 2001 in Miami, Florida USA

The Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary
Action (ARNOVA) invites participation in its 30th annual conference in
two special focus areas:

Transforming Civil Society
The rediscovery of the civil society concept in the 1990s provides a
challenge for the new millennium. In what ways can we think about the
role that the nonprofit sector can play in the constitution and
transformation of civil society?
Public Policy
How have nonprofits responded to and shaped current government
policies? Given this and the recent election results, what
opportunities or constraints might nonprofits encounter in the next
few years?

In addition to the focus areas listed above, we solicit topics in the
areas of voluntarism, the nature of the third sector and its place in
society, the management of nonprofit organizations, international and
comparative studies of the third sector and the teaching of nonprofit
studies. Moreover, proposals can address issues related to specific
sub-sectors such as grassroots and community development, health,
social services, religion, culture, civic benefit, recreation,
education, and advocacy.

We welcome participation from scholars in all academic disciplines as
well as from nonprofit organization executives, foundation staff,
consultants, and policymakers. Graduate students are also encouraged
to submit proposals based on relevant dissertation research. Those
interested may:

· Submit a proposal for a paper;
