Freedom House, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that promotes liberty and democracy throughout the world, seeks a candidate with human rights experience for its American Volunteers for International Development (AVID) program. The volunteer will be based with a Macedonian NGO that promotes human rights awareness in the Prilep area and acts as a resource for individuals whose rights have been violated.
The volunteer will train staff members, suggest improvements to current projects, and help establish relationships with similar organizations. The volunteer should have practical human rights experience and familiarity with relevant human rights literature. Knowledge of women's rights issues (as a component of human rights) is desired but not required.
The volunteer will receive round-trip transportation to Macedonia, housing, and basic living expenses during the assignment. Local language skills are not required. The assignment is for 3 to 6 months. Start date flexible.
