Program Assistant Position
The Ukrainian office of the Carpathian Foundation, a non-governmental
institution working in the bordering areas of Hungary, Poland,
Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine, is seeking a program assistant for its
newly established Rural Extension Service at the office in Uzhgorod,
Ukraine. The Rural Extension Service was created in order to promote
sustainable rural development in the Carpathian Mountain area. The
program assistant's task would be to organize and coordinate the
Service's activities in Slovakia.
The tasks of the Service are to:
o monitor and analyze the Foundation's sustainable rural
development programs;
o provide technical assistance to local rural community
initiatives;
o collect and disseminate information on sustainable rural
development;
o create a database of rural development information;
o network sustainable rural development initiatives in the
Carpathian Region.
The program assistant's main task will be:
o to implement the activities of the program in Ukraine
(Chernivetska, Ivano-Frankivska, Lvivska, Zakarpatska oblasts);
o to coordinate the services activities in the bordering areas
of Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine;
o to provide technical assistance to local governments and NGOs
active in rural development;
o to implement the Foundation's long-term rural development
strategy;
o to establish and maintain connections with national, regional
agencies and other international organizations that are working in
the same field.
o to assist in development of related operational programs in
Ukraine.
Qualifications /Requirements:
o 3 years professional and practical experience in rural and
community development;
o results-oriented personality;
o quality sense of working in a team - team player;
o excellent interpersonal skills;
o proficient English communication skills (oral and written);
o computer skills.
The job requires intensive travel in the rural areas and within the
Carpathian Euroregion. (valid driving license is required)
