ANNOUNCEMENT

The Second Russian Festival of Children's Ecological Theatres (CET) will be held in Saratov at the beginning of April 2001.

Approximately 20 children's creative groups from different areas of Russia will take part in the Festival. Colleagues from Great Britain and the United States are also invited to participate. This event, held on the coast of the Volga, will allow young environmental activists the opportunity to exchange experiences, form friendships, develop plans to cooperate with "adult" nature protection organizations, and discuss children's role in solving ecological problems.
It is no accident that the CET Festivals take place in Saratov. After all, it was in Saratov that the first children's ecological theatre was created ten years ago. Shortly thereafter, the city hosted the first regional CET festival, to be followed by one after another...with the motto "Through Art We Can Make the Planet Green!".

FESTIVAL GOALS:
-to develop collaboration and exchange information and experience between Children's Ecological Theatres;
-to distribute nontraditional (adapted for the stage) forms of ecological education;
-to develop the creative abilities of children;
-to involve children in nature protection.

FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES:
-attending competitive performances;
-seminars about putting on performances with scientific themes (British collective);
-discussions and classes with theatre actors and directors;
-"School partnerships" - discussions with and performances by Festival participants in Saratov schools;
-and much more!
 FESTIVAL ORGANIZERS AND SPONSORS:
-Children's Ecological Theater - "In Spite of Everything" (Saratov);
-Center for Ecological Initiatives Support (Saratov);
-Institute for Civic Initiatives Support "ISAR" (Moscow);
-British Council (Moscow).

The Festival's Organizational Committee welcomes any proposals on collaboration!
