U.S. CITIZEN MURDERED IN AZERBAIJAN. The chief of the U.S.
Republican Institute's Azerbaijan program, John Michael
Alvis, was found stabbed to death in his Baku apartment on
30 November, Turan reported, quoting Baku police chief
Major-General Magerram Aliev. Aliev said robbery was the
probable motive for the killing. LF
