APPEAL- Submit Information for CIS Conflict Management Database

The Centre for Conflict Management, an NGO based in Almaty,
Kazakhstan, is currently compiling a database of information on
organisations and individuals, who are working on issues of conflict
management and prevention (in its widest sense, including human
rights, democracy-building, development) within the geographical area
of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The aim of this is
to publish this information both as a web page, and in the form of a
book/paperback directory - in some ways similar to the International
Directory 'Prevention and Management of Violent Conflicts', published
by the European Platform for Conflict Prevention and Transformation,
for those of you who are familiar with this publication. We hope
that the data, when published, will enable NGOs and others to
cooperate and network more closely, to pool information, expertise
and experience, and find suitable partners for developing their work
further, in an environment when doing so can often be very difficult.

There are now a large number of local NGOs working in the states of
the CIS on issues of conflict prevention and transformation, and
details of most of these organisations have already been gathered.
Unfortunately, we have received very few replies from western or
international organisations, based outside the CIS, but who have an
interest, or programmes, in the CIS. This could be in terms of
programmes on the ground, training and education opportunities within
or without the CIS, or research.

If you would like to see your organisation incuded in this databse
and publication, please contact David Newton by e-mail
david@vitelco.kz for a questionnaire to be completed as soon as
possible.
