"Handbook of Ukrainian NGO Trainers, Consultants and Experts on
Evaluation"
Dear Colleagues,
Counterpart Creative Center, Ukrainian non-governmental organization,
is glad to introduce you the CCC new edition "Handbook of Ukrainian
NGO Trainers, Consultants and Experts on Evaluation" supported by the
C.S.Mott Foundation.
The purpose of this Handbook is to strengthen the institutional
capacity of the NGO community in Ukraine and to help NGO members,
donors and other interested people who would like to use it. The
Handbook is published in Ukrainian and English and contains
information about 148 Ukrainian specialists, who work for Ukrainian
NGOs.
Working for the NGO sector and being an NGO itself, we understand how
important is for NGOs and donors to receive full information about
trainers, consultants and experts on evaluation. That is why in 1998
we started to produce a handbook, which contained this information.
The handbook being presented is the 2nd updated edition of this
handbook. The criteria for selection of trainers, consultants and
experts have not been changed. They must live in Ukraine, be a member
of an NGO, and have two excellent recommendations. Unlike the first
edition, this one is limited to Ukraine, but expanded to include a
variety of different types of activities: training, consultations, and
evaluations. The Handbook consists of two parts: theory and practice
materials that will be useful for all who conduct and participate in
training, consultations and evaluations, and biographical data of
people who provide such services. The Handbook is organized
alphabetically by persons. The indexes allow users to search the
Handbook by:
? Regions
? Areas of specialization
The professions of trainer or consultant are no longer a novelty in
Ukraine, while an expert on evaluation is still something quite new.
This is why most of the material in the Handbook is dedicated to the
newer topic. Moreover, we have asked experienced and well-known
specialists on evaluation to give us their opinions, share their
experience and give their advice to NGO representatives, as well as
donors, on conducting an evaluation. We expect that their input will
be extremely helpful and that it will attract new people to this
activity.
The high standards of activities and ethics related to the work of
trainers, consultants and experts on evaluation are evidenced
throughout the entire Handbook. Responsibility to a client, as well as
to those who fund other activities, implies not only that a trainer,
consultant or evaluator carefully fulfill an agreement under a
contract, but that those services are provided in a professional and
ethical way.
We hope that this handbook - which is always in great demand - will be
useful for both NGOs and donors and will help NGOs and donors to find
necessary specialists.
