Dear Colleagues:

First of all I'd like you to send you some information about our
organization, which was established in 1999 in Rustavi, Kvemo Kartli
region, Georgia. The main objectives of our organization "Open
Society--Mermisi" are: to facilitate building of civil society,
protection and propaganda of human rights, facilitate building of
democratic institutions in Georgia and in our region, to spread
knowledge about international organization, to solve global and local
problems.

There is a great lack of information about human rights, democratic
institutions, international organization in our region and in Rustavi
and that's why we adherents drew conclusion to establish
non-government organization. We have already taken 2 grants from
"Open Society--Georgia Foundation" and fulfilled two projects.

The first was project for developing third sector in our region and
the second to facilitate publicity and transparent of local
Government. Now we are going to carry out some interesting projects;
among them is project of establishing "the USA Cultural House". This
project has three trends:

1. Media Center. We'll select documentary, feature, cartoon films,
showing the life of American people, political, economic, public
institutions in democratic states, it introduces the human rights and
ways of protecting them. This trend not only spread knowledge about
democracy, but also helps people to learn English better, as every
film will be adopted and have subtitles.

2. Create Library of USA newspapers, magazines and books, because
there is no libraries like this in our region.

3. Create Internet Club. There is a problem of taking and replacing
information in Internet in Rustavi and we want to give this great
opportunity to our citizens. Now we have some property to realize
party of this project, but we need an additional 16,500 USD to carry
out it fully.

Please, let us know If you are interested in this project and
we'll send you detail information about our organization and project.
