VOLUNTEER ADVOCACY TRAINER NEEDED
The International Executive Service Corps (IESC) is a private,
not-for-profit business development organization whose mission is to
support private and public enterprises in more than 50 developing
countries. IESC would like to recruit an Advocacy Expert for a three
to four week assignment in one of the countries of the former Soviet
Union. The Volunteer Expert will work with non-governmental
organizations (NGOs) to help them acquire the necessary skills to
advocate for change on behalf of their membership.
The Volunteer Expert must be able to provide training on the topics
of
Why Advocacy is Important to the Democratic Process
Citizen Participation in Government Decision-Making
Practical Tools for Public Policy Advocacy
Building Consensus and Coalitions
Using the Media to Build an Advocacy Campaign
Organizing a Public Forum
The volunteer will have dynamic leadership and training skills; have
led a successful advocacy campaign for an association or community
organization; understand fully the process of working cooperatively
with NGO leaders and government officials; and, have worked as a
volunteer or consultant on an international assignment. He/she will
be provided with per diem, international airfare, and an allowance
for housing and local transportation. The project will be scheduled
in late 2000 or in 2001.
