CEE/NIS JOURNALISTS INVITED TO ATTEND BUSINESS WRITING WORKSHOP IN
PRAGUE
Project Syndicate, a non-profit newspaper network, is planing a
two-week business news writing workshop for print journalists from
Central and Eastern Europe and from Newly Independent States
(CEE/NIS).
The workshop will be held from September 4 to 15 at the Prague School
of Economics in the capital of the Czech Republic. It will be
conducted in partnership with the Reuters Foundation, World Bank
Institute and APA Press Foundation, Josh LaPorte, regional program
director at the Project Syndicate, told IJNet.
Based on Reuters' long-running London business courses, the program
will be led by veteran Reuters instructors, Chris Catlin and Oliver
Wates, and former Wall Street Journal reporter, Mark Nelson of the
World Bank Institute, according to LaPorte. It will focus on
reporting of economic policy making process, trade, investment,
privatization, the macro-economy, companies and the effects of
economic change on the average citizen.
The workshop's program includes highly specialized reporting on
financial markets, international financial relations, and economic
policy for transitional countries. Set in a simulated newsroom, the
training program seeks to help journalists produce clear, accurate
and interesting stories about the economy and business.
Need-based scholarships are available for tuition, accommodations and
daily expenses.English language ability is required. The deadline for
application is August 12.
