Hi Sally --

Here are my suggestions.

The World Bank website www.worldbank.org. Specifically, check out http://genderstats.worldbank.org/menu.asp and "Making the transition work for women in Europe and Central Asia (Vol.1) - 1999", which you can find at
www-wds.worldbank.org. I also recommend looking at the www.ilo.org, which has some labor statistics for each country. And finally, I don't know how good your Russian is, but I know the Kyrghyz Republic has data on some websites -- check http://www.elcat.kg/ElCat/kyr/state.html

And finally, the IMF country reports www.imf.org do have some employment statistics broken down into gender.

I hope this helps.

Best,
alexis
