Job--Public Awareness and Communications Specialist, Central Asia

CH2M HILL, a leading environmental engineering and sustainable
development firm based in Denver, Colorado, is seeking a full-time
(or virtually full-time) specialist in public awareness and
communications to help implement an environment and energy project in
the Central Asian Republics (e.g., Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, etc.).
The project is being funded by the US Agency for International
Development's Central Asian Republic Mission in Almaty, Kazakhstan,
and will last three to five years.

Responsibilities:

The person's primary responsibility will be to design, lead and
implement the "Public Awareness" task under USAID Central Asian
project. The activity will inform various Central Asian public
groups and individuals on the benefits and opportunities in improving
the management of the natural resources sector. It will cut across
all activities in the USAID Central Asian project to inform the
public in Central Asia about the successes and needs for the types of
policies that are being developed in the region. Case studies,
outreach efforts, and development of material for the internet and
other public forums will be used to get the message out. In addition
to the direct involvement with the government policy makers, attempts
will be made through various NGOs to promote the concepts developed
in the other project tasks.

Time Commitment Required: Full-time in region for at least three
years highly preferred.

Location: Based in Almaty, Kazakhstan or Tashkent, Uzbekistan highly
preferred; Acceptable based in US with frequent long TDY's in Central
Asia.

Experience and Skills:
  
· Demonstrated success in leading public forums, disseminating information,
and leading other outreach programs and/or approaches appropriate for
developing countries (required)
· Russian Language Skills (highly preferred) and/or local language skills
(helpful)
· Environmental background, could include environmental health (highly
preferred)
· Experience in Central Asian Republics (preferred in ideal world but not
required)
· Experience working with international organizations and/or in USAID
projects (helpful).
