New on the Center for Civil Society International Website...

CivilSoc list members are encouraged to visit the site and check out
these new features, including:
1. The content of the home page now changes on a weekly basis. CCSI
Web master Julie Broome updates the home page section "New at Our
Site" once, and sometimes twice, every week. Many of the items Julie
selects are in a sense "the best of CivilSoc," but some come from
other sources. They are chosen for their interest and the range of
concerns they reflect.
2. At the bottom of our home page are images of some of the
resources available through the CCSI Online Resource Center. Note,
for example, "Stolen Years," an extraordinary one-hour video of
testimonies by survivors of Stalin's gulag in Magadan, which we have
recently acquired and added to the Resource Center.
3. We are building up the section of our Web site known as "Civil
Society: Documentation and Analysis." An example of what you will
find here is the speech (mentioned above) by Secretary of State
Madeleine K. Albright given April 17, 2000, at the University of
World Economy and Diplomacy, Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The Secretary
addressed a number of important civil society themes in a direct
manner.
4. For anybody interested either in reviewing past posts to
CivilSoc, or in learning how to join the list, there are direct links
from our Home Page ("CivilSoc Archives" and "CivilSoc, Our Daily
E-Bulletin").
There is more, but the best way to discover it is by browsing the
site. As ever, thanks are due to the Friends and Partners project of
