Subject: Research for Health Sector Development Targeted at Poverty
Alleviation in Caucasus

INVITATIONS FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

Curatio International Foundation (CIF) a not for profit, non-governmental
organization based in Tbilisi, Georgia, is planning to implement a program
in Health Sector Development in Caucasus..

The goal of the program is to advance the understanding of specific health
sector policy reforms in Primary Health Care (PHC) and current needs which
Caucasus countries have, to identify the most critical needs for policy
changes through evidence derived from research. Develop local capacity for
carrying out the research in the country through enhancing the collaboration
among the scientists in other countries of the region targeting several of
the following themes

ž Strengthening national or regional health research agendas
ž Increasing awareness of the importance of research among stakeholders
ž Promoting good ethical practices in health research
ž Improving communication and dissemination of research results
ž Translating research into action
ž Improving the processes and indicators for evaluating the impact of
research
ž Strengthening capacity in the management of research

Interested parties are hereby invited to submit Expressions of Interest in
support of CIF's initiative on Health Research for Development. No
eligibility restrictions apply, but shortlisting and selection will be
subject to the availability of donor funding. A shortlist of qualified
organizations will be formally invited to submit proposals following this
invitation.
In order to determine the capability and experience of the organizations
seeking to be shortlisted, the information submitted should include the
following:
1. Organization or company profile, structure and staffing;
2. Details of experience or similar research undertaken in the previous
three years, including their locations;
3. CVs of Senior and Junior researchers who could be available to work on
the assignment;
4. Copies of the documents proving legal incorporation of your organization
and the legal status;
5. In which topic your organization is interested to undertake the research

The above information should not exceed 10-15 pages and should be received
no later then May 25, 2000. Please send your notices via e-mail, with the
subject line "Expressions of Interest in CIF's initiative on HRD" to
