Position Announcement: OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

The European Roma Rights Center (ERRC), an international public interest
law organisation which monitors the human rights situation of Roma and
provides legal defence in cases of human rights abuse, seeks an Operations
Director for its Budapest headquarters office. Reporting directly to the
Executive Director, the position is a key component of the executive
management team that oversees this twenty person plus non-profit. The
Operations Director is responsible for all organisational operations.

A dynamic organisation that has grown quickly in the past five years, the
ERRC needs an energetic and proactive senior manager to improve internal
functions and to enhance overall effectiveness. The Operations Director
will assume control of an existing finance and administration unit of four
people, but will also be expected to seize the responsibility for
organisation-wide strategic planning and reporting systems, budget reviews,
grants management, human resources and communication procedures. The chosen
candidate is expected to create consistency and continuity in all operations.

Qualifications: Minimum ten years experience managing comparably sized
organisations, including specific responsibility for finance and
administration. Prefer advanced degree in business or public
administration. Experience with non-profit, non-governmental cause
organisations is desirable.

Pragmatic, results-oriented approach should be combined with a collegial,
collaborative stile. Management expertise and problem solving skills are of
utmost importance. Prefer work experience in Central or Eastern Europe.
English language fluency is required, Hungarian a strong advantage, other
languages desirable. Deadline for sending application is May 31, 2000.
