The American Bar Association/Central and East European Law Initiative
(ABA/CEELI) offers a fellowship program for two environmental lawyers
from Central and Eastern Europe or the Newly Independent States to
study in the United States for three weeks.
Fellow may choose to study any environmental law or policy topic,
with the understanding that TMU has made the grant in recognition of
the importance of enabling environmental lawyers from the region to
travel to the United States to meet their American colleagues and to
gain first-hand familiarity with American environmental issues and
practices.
Fellows will be based at an environmental NGO in the United States.
Anyone involved in public interest law in Central and Eastern Europe
and the Newly Independent States is eligible to apply. Candidates
must have a law degree, at least two years of professional
experience, demonstrated commitment to environmental law reform and
increased public participation in the environmental decision making
processes, advanced English ability (spoken and written)
The grant will cover: Room and Board, Meals and Incidentals, Airfare
to/from the United States, Local transportation, Medical insurance,
Visa Costs, Books and research materials
Candidates who are members of the Environmental Law Association of
Central and Eastern Europe and the Newly Independent States, and who
have practical experience in public interest environmental law, are
encouraged to apply.
The Application deadline is April 7, 2000
