Call for Host University Applications
'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''
The Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP) is currently seeking
U.S. universities to host scholars from the Newly Independent States
for the 2000-2001 academic year. Applications are due by March 31,
2000

The JFDP is a one year, non-degree exchange program for faculty at
institutions of higher learning in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia,
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan , Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.
The specific goals of the program are to promote on-going curriculum
development, teaching methodology advancement, professional
networking, and professional growth. JFDP Fellows fulfill a
well-rounded program of unofficially auditing classes in their field,
developing new curriculum and courses for their home institutions,
attending conferences, and developing networks of American contacts,
and conducting research.

Host universities are expected to provide administrative support to
the Fellows during the program. In addition, every Fellow will be
assigned an academic advisor. Advisors help the Fellows acclimate to
the U.S. system of higher education and work toward meeting the goals
of the program. JFDP Fellows are not required to teach during the
academic year but teaching is possible, depending upon the
regulations of the university.

The JFDP is administered by the American Councils for International
Education: ACTR/ACCELS and sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and
Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the U.S. Department of State.

To receive an application or information, please visit the American
Councils website at www.actr.org, or send an e-mail to jfdp@actr.org
