The Development Fund is an economic development organization in
Tajikistan aimed at improving the lot of rural farmers and
entrepreneurs. The fund promotes privatization and economic reform as
well as the protection of civil and economic rights. It also
participates in a number of projects intended to build civil society
and encourage the development of non-state and non-commercial
institutions.

The main project carried out by the fund is the micro-finance program
in rural areas. This is facilitated through training programs, as
well as the creation of models for the target areas. This program
also develops proposals for legislation promoting the development of
NGOs. The fund hopes to develop several standard models of
micro-finance implementation, textbooks for training programs, and a
micro-finance bulletin.

Through the development of their Information-Consulting Training
Center, which focuses on issues of privatization, and the
Micro-Finance Institute, the fund hopes to be able to provide loans
and grants to those wishing to invest in farming and small business.
