PhD in Economics
----------------

The Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education of Charles
University in Prague (CERGE) invites interested persons to apply to
its program of doctoral studies in theoretical and applied economics,
leading to a PhD degree which is fully accredited in the Czech
Republic (US accreditation pending).

CERGE provides modern post-graduate training in the field of
economics. The four-year program consists of two years of coursework
followed by two years of supervised dissertation research. The
working language of the institution is English. CERGE encourages its
students to conduct part of their dissertation research at partner
institutions in Western Europe and North America as well as to
participate in collaborative research projects in other countries.
CERGE graduates have assumed positions in governmental ministries as
policy advisors, as chief economists of international banks, and as
academics at universities and research institutions all over the
world.

The annual application deadline is 15 March. Detailed information can
be found at our webpage:

        http://www.cerge.cuni.cz/phd-prog/

Students from Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union
are granted tuition waivers and stipends during their time of
study--no separate application is necessary. Successful applicants
will be invited to participate in a competitive two-month preparatory
semester in July and August, after which time final admissions
decisions will be made.
