CCSI has received the following reminder of an outstanding fellowship
opportunity. Note that the fellowship is for six months and nominations
are required by November 1. Colby College is a highly rated liberal arts
college in Maine, not too far from Boston, and would afford an excellent
environment for the person who receives the fellowship to do some
important teaching and writing.
Further questions should be directed to: Oak Institute <oakhr@colby.edu>
There is also a Web site with application forms and more information
about the program on it: http://www.colby.edu/oak

Subject: Oak Human Rights Fellowship
To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to follow up on the letter sent to you by Professor Kenneth
Rodman seeking nominations for the Oak Human Rights Fellowship.
The Oak Fellowship is a one semester scholar-in-residence position for
human rights practitioners doing on the ground work at some level of
personal risk. Its purpose is to provide activists a respite from front
line duties for the purpose of reflection, writing, and communicating their
work to the campus community. Responsibilities include teaching, either
through formal classes or informal discussion groups, and assistance in
developing a series of lectures and events centered around the human rights
issues in which the Fellow is involved.
The Fellow will receive a stipend of $30,000, plus health coverage, round
trip transportation from the Fellow's base of operation, housing during the
semester in which the Fellow is in residence, a rental vehicle during the
semester, and meals on campus.
Please forward nominations and contact information to Eliza Denoeux,
Associate Director, Oak Institute for the Study of International Human
Rights, Lunder House, Colby College, Waterville ME 04901. Nominations can
also be sent via fax (207-872-3474) or email (oakhr@colby.edu).
The deadline for nominations is November 1. Completed applications must
arrive by November 8.
