                      **Russian Regional Studies Network**

Attentions scholars of Russian regions and practitioners in the field!!!

We are proud to launch the Russian Regional Studies Network (RRSN), a
virtual community of specialists dedicated to the study of Russia's 89
constituent parts. The RRSN will act as a clearinghouse of information
and provide a networking mechanism for its participants. If you choose to
join, you will be advertising your projects to other specialists, as well
as learn what others in the field are studying and doing.

We imagine our network as a place where both scholars and practitioners
can come together to share information and resources. This is why we
encourage not only academics, but also non-governmental organizations
(both Western and Russian) working in the regions to join and tell us
about their projects. Whether you are running an academic study of
federalism or a technical assistance program in a small provincial city,
we would like to hear from you.

At first the RRSN will exist as a regularly updated listing (organized
thematically and by region) of all participants and their projects on our
website. The information about various projects will be available to the
public at large on the Internet, which will facilitate scholarly exchange
and promote information sharing. Eventually, we would like to add an
interactive element to the network, thus making it a true virtual
community, complete with discussion groups. By joining the network, you
will help us make it a vibrant and diverse community of specialists.

Thank you for your attention.
