USIA Alumni Small Grants Program

Application Deadline: August 2, 1999

The USIA Alumni Small Grants Program provides grants to alumni of the
following USIA-sponsored programs for professional development
activities:

Regional Scholar Exchange Program (RSEP), Freedom Support Act Fellowships
in Contemporary Issues (CI), Freedom Support Act Graduate Fellowship
Program (FSA/Grad), Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship Program
(Muskie), Benjamin Franklin Fellowship Program (BFF), Curriculum
Development Exchange Program (CDEP), and Curriculum Consultant Exchange
Program (CCEP).

Individual Advanced Research Opportunities

Application Deadline: November 1, 1999

Grants of one to twelve months to predoctoral and postdoctoral scholars
for research at institutions in Central and Eastern Europe and Eurasia.
American scholars in policy research and development, and cross-
disciplinary studies are strongly urged to apply.

Russian-US Young Leadership Fellows

Application Deadline: November 30, 1999

The Russian-US Young Leadership Fellows for Public Service Program
provides one year of intensive academic and professional training to
both US and Russian young leaders. Russian fellows will focus on the
areas of community affairs and corporate affairs with concentrations
ranging from NGO management and international relations to corporate
communications. The US young leaders will focus on courses that address
the historial, political and societal transitions in Russia.

Ron Brown Fellowship Program

Application Deadline: Varies depending on the country. Please request
applications from local USIS Posts or Fulbright Commissions after
January 1, 2000.

The Ron Brown Fellowship Program provides grants to outstanding
university graduates and young professionals from Albania, Bosnia and
Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Macedonia, Poland, Romania,
Slovenia, and Serbia and Montenegro for one- and two-year degree and
nondegree programs of study at US institutions. Programs are available
in the fields of business administration, economics, educational
administration/civic education, environmental policy/resource management,
journalism/mass communications, law, public administration, and public
policy. (Country participation is subject to annual funding allocation.)

Short-Term Travel Grants

Application Deadlines: February 1, 2000 and June 1, 2000

Grants for scholarly projects focusing on Central and Eastern Europe,
Eurasia, and limited opportunities for Mongolia. Support is available for
brief visits (about two weeks) for individuals who do not require
administrative assistance from IREX. American scholars in policy research
and development, and cross-disciplinary studies are strongly urged to pply.
