IREX Field Representatives

The International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX), a leading
nonprofit organization in international education and training based
in Washington, DC, seeks part-time local consultants to act as IREX
representatives in the following cities:

                     Khabarovsk, Russia
                     Novosibirsk, Russia
                     Sakhalin, Russia
                     Samara, Russia
                     St. Petersburg, Russia
                     Yekaterinburg, Russia
                     Tallinn, Estonia
                     Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina
                     Riga, Latvia
                     Astana, Kazakhstan
                     Atyrau, Kazakhstan
                     Dushanbe, Tajikistan
                     Gomel, Belarus
                     Kharkiv, Ukraine
                     Lviv, Ukraine
                     Odesa, Ukraine
                     Belgrade, Yugoslavia
                     Sofia, Bulgaria
                     Warsaw, Poland

Qualified applicants must have experience working with nonprofit
organizations. Experience in American higher education is also highly
desirable. Candidates must be well organized, professional, skilled
at handling multiple tasks, and possess excellent intercultural and
interpersonal skills. Ability to travel, international experience,
functional English and fluency in the local language is required.
Access to an office space, a computer, and the Internet preferred.

This is a retainer position (approximately part-time), which may
require periodic full-time employment. The current position is
available through December 1999 with the possibility to work beyond
this date. Duties include:

Maintaining an IREX representative office and keeping regular office
hours; Collaborating with IREX/DC staff and IREX field offices;
Producing monthly activity and expense reports; Serving as a
dissemination and collection point for applications; Coordinating
alumni programming; Traveling throughout the region for recruiting
trips and conferences as needed; Attended courtesy meetings with
Embassy and Ministry officials when requested by IREX; and Handling
logistics for visiting IREX staff, consultants, and colleagues.
