Yes, the U. Maryland is one of several good places on the Web to pick up
Cyrillic fonts and some utility programs. Not long ago, I received a
catalog from Smartlink Corporation that advertises what seems to be a
really impressive set of software tools for heavy users of Cyrillic. They
have an integrated system of programs that are designed to perform optical
character recognition (OCR) on Russian text, wordprocessing in English or
Russian, computer-based translation, and spellchecking, a wide range of
fonts, and all this on either Macs or IBMs. I have not used any of this
myself, but if you are interested, call for a copy of their catalog at
